[The Economist publishes a semi-regular price indices on the global housing market. [Note: Pd. Sub.]](http://www.economist.com/finance/displayStory.cfm?story_id=4385293) The housing boom, as we have noted before, has been occuring across the globe and started in a number of places before reaching the US. Places like Australia, United Kingdom, New Zealand, Spain and Portugal had housing booms over the past five years. These markets have cooled over the past two years. With a few exceptions, such as the US, the rate of appreciation over the past year in many countries has eased.

As noted in the [Angry Bear](http://angrybear.blogspot.com/2005/09/world-house-price-boom.html), the various US regions see great disparity in housing price appreciation.

As we have noted in prior posts, the coasts are seeing the greatest appeciation rates in the US.
