Housing Notes Needs to Couch The Discussion For Another Week

I completely mislead you last week, a byproduct of my own lack of time management skills. Last week I was traveling and this week I’m in Dallas at a planning session for RAC’s fall conference, which looks to be even more successful than last year’s conference. I’m the current president of RAC, an organization of some of the best residential appraisers in the U.S.

To illustrate, here is a story about a person obsessed with abandoned couches.

I’ll get off the proverbial couch next week or my head will explode.

Upcoming Speaking Events

March 30, 2017 – Bloomberg Radio: Joined Tom Keene and David Gura of Bloomberg Surveillance live from the Pierre Hotel in Manhattan to talk housing. Since this occurred yesterday just before I left for the airport, here’s the clip (at the 37:30 mark).

April 6, 2017 – Miami Herald: The Miami Herald editorial team presents “The New Miami: Beyond the Beaches,” a seminar designed to explore trends in real estate, the burgeoning tech scene, urban life, culinary and culture, for a New York audience. Real estate for second-home owners and investors panelists include Howard Lorber, chairman, Douglas Elliman; Michael Stern, chairman JDS development; Neisen Kasdin, Miami office managing partner, Akerman. Moderated by Jonathan Miller, president and CEO, Miller Samuel real estate consultancy.

May 3, 2017 – REFA: Real Estate Finance Association of Connecticut Fairfield/Westchester Chapter presents a members’ only breakfast round-table with Jonathan J. Miller of Miller Samuel Inc.

Appraiserville

Live from Dallas: I apologize to all my appraiser colleagues for my lack of content over the past 2 weeks.  It is not because there isn’t plenty to talk about.  In contrast, there is a lot of insanity going on with AI National at the state level.  I’d like to say I’m searching for that perfect comp, but in reality, I’m a little overwhelmed with heavy work volume, lots of public events and a gauntlet of U.S. market research coming out in April.  I plan to get off the couch next week so please rest up.

Updates from the Real Estate Industrial Complex

Here are some posts over at my forum known as the Real Estate Industrial Complex where I have been chronicling the unfortunate anti-membership activities of AI National.

A Brilliant Idea

If you need something rock solid in your life (particularly on Friday afternoons) and someone forwarded this to you, or you think you already subscribed, sign up here for these weekly Housing Notes. And be sure to share with a friend or colleague if you enjoy them. They’ll say “you know,” you’ll reconsider drinking so much Coke. and I’ll learn about lies.

See you next week.
